44th president of the United States insists on transparency
Barack Obama was sworn in as the United States first African-American president on January 20. Obama, who captured the White House in a campaign marked by soaring rhetoric, in his inaugural address referred the importance of freedom of information in public administration: “My fellow citizens: … And those of us who manage the public`s dollars will be held to account -- to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day -- because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.”
